In a career largely dominated by men, Keche Andrew’s wife, Joana Grey Cudjoe, has carved a niche for herself in the mining industry while challenging narratives. The CEO of Golden Empire Legacy Limited made headlines on major online portals after she disclosed her net worth in an interview on the Delay Show.

Joana Grey Cudjoe revealed how her businesses made steady financial growth every year and claimed that she makes $700,000,000 yearly. Critics have however indicated that the amount is unrealistic because Joana Grey Cudjoe would have made Forbes’ list of Africa’s top richest in 2020.

In a report by Africa-facts.org gathered from Forbes of the top 50 wealthiest people in Africa, Gerrit Thomas Ferreira is the personality with the least net worth of $510 million. Joana Grey Cudjoe is not named in the list. However, her humbling start in life and the journey of how she claimed she made her wealth are admirable and inspiring.

Joana Grey Cudjoe narrates that when she came to Accra, she worked in more than 10 homes as a house help. As a junior high school dropout, she reveals that the journey to becoming an entrepreneur began when she started as a space-to-space worker and later as a table-top phone dealer in Kwame Nkrumah Circle. The hardworking woman diversified and started a gold dealership company with her own money and 4kilos of gold worth $160,000 she received from a male colleague.

She revealed that her first setback was when a seller working for her stole more than GHC2.5 million just within one month of starting her company. From the Ashanti Region, Joana Grey Cudjoe also sat for an interview with Kwaku Sintim-Misa (KSM) to talk about her first marriage with Javis. Joana said that was the beginning of a new chapter in her life. Joana Gyan was rumoured to have disclosed that her businesses faced challenges when she first started but claims she now makes $700,000,000 yearly. She noted that things are much better and her various businesses are thriving.
