In a world where airports are often associated with stress, long queues, and exhaustion, Youmie Jean Francois is working to transform the travel experience through wellness, mindfulness, and innovation.
As the Founder and CEO of Flex-N-Fly and President of the Flex-N-Fly Foundation, Youmie is pioneering a unique concept that brings wellness services directly into airports, creating spaces where travelers can relax, recharge, and prioritize their physical and mental well-being before taking flight.
From Haiti to Entrepreneurship
Originally from Haiti and now based in New York City, Youmie’s entrepreneurial journey was anything but conventional. Before becoming a business leader, she worked as a professional backup dancer and performer, an experience that profoundly shaped her understanding of physical health, endurance, and self-care.
As a dancer, she experienced firsthand the physical demands of performing, traveling, and maintaining energy under challenging conditions. Recognizing the importance of movement, nutrition, and wellness, she embraced practices such as yoga, strength training, Pilates, and cardio long before many became mainstream trends.
These experiences would later become the foundation of her vision for Flex-N-Fly.
The Birth of Flex-N-Fly
The idea for Flex-N-Fly emerged from Youmie’s own travel experiences.
After years of navigating crowded airports and witnessing the stress many travelers endure, she began imagining a different kind of airport environment—one where wellness was accessible rather than an afterthought.
A pivotal moment came while traveling through Morocco, where she observed dedicated spaces within the airport for prayer and reflection. Inspired by the concept, she envisioned wellness-focused spaces where travelers could stretch, meditate, practice yoga, and restore balance before or after flights.
Combining her passion for wellness with her love of travel, Flex-N-Fly was born.
Building a Business Against the Odds
Like many entrepreneurs, Youmie’s path has not been easy.
She has faced numerous obstacles, including raising capital, securing partnerships, and convincing airport authorities that wellness services deserve a place alongside traditional airport offerings.
As a Black woman and solo founder operating within the aviation and wellness sectors, she has also encountered barriers that many underrepresented entrepreneurs face when seeking funding and investment opportunities.
Despite these challenges, Youmie persevered, relying on resilience, strategic partnerships, and a clear vision of the value her company could bring to travelers worldwide.
Her determination is reflected in her belief that every setback has strengthened her ability to build a lasting and impactful business.
Bringing Wellness to Airports
Flex-N-Fly offers a range of wellness services designed to help travelers reduce stress and improve their overall travel experience.
These services include:
- Guided stretching sessions
- Yoga classes
- Meditation programs
- Tai Chi sessions
- Breathwork experiences
- Red light therapy rooms
The goal is simple yet powerful: to make wellness accessible within the airport environment and provide travelers with healthier alternatives to stress-driven habits.
Rather than spending time scrolling endlessly on phones, consuming unhealthy food, or relying on alcohol to cope with travel anxiety, travelers can choose experiences that support their physical and emotional well-being.
A Vision Beyond Airports
While Flex-N-Fly’s initial focus is on airport wellness, Youmie’s ambitions extend far beyond that.
The company is preparing to launch operations at major New York-area airports, including LaGuardia and Newark, while also planning pop-up experiences in additional locations.
However, her long-term vision reaches even further.
Youmie dreams of expanding into aviation itself, with aspirations of launching an airline that strengthens connectivity between Africa and the United States. She has spoken passionately about the challenges of intra-African travel and the need for more efficient, affordable, and accessible air routes across the continent.
Her vision includes creating stronger travel connections between Africa and the diaspora while making global mobility more accessible.
Giving Back Through the Flex-N-Fly Foundation
Beyond business, Youmie remains committed to social impact.
Through the Flex-N-Fly Foundation, she supports underserved communities through programs focused on travel, wellness, entrepreneurship, and aviation education. The foundation helps aspiring pilots access opportunities, provides wellness initiatives, and equips entrepreneurs with tools to scale their businesses.
For Youmie, success is not only measured by business growth but also by the ability to create opportunities and improve lives.
Inspiring the Next Generation
Youmie Jean Francois’ journey is a testament to the power of vision, resilience, and innovation. From her beginnings as a dancer to becoming a trailblazing entrepreneur in the wellness and aviation industries, she continues to challenge conventional thinking and create new possibilities.
Through Flex-N-Fly, she is proving that wellness and travel do not have to exist separately. Instead, they can work together to create healthier, more enjoyable experiences for millions of travelers around the world.
As her company grows and her vision expands, Youmie remains committed to one central mission: helping people move through the world with greater balance, intention, and well-being.
