In the bustling city of Accra, Ghana, Land Captan and her husband co-founded Theia Coffee House in 2019, just before the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic. Born in Lebanon, Land’s family has a rich history in Ghana, with her grandfather immigrating to the country in the 1920s. Her familial ties to Ghana, coupled with a passion for showcasing the nation’s natural beauty and hospitality, inspired the creation of Theia Coffee House.
Named after the Titaness of sight in Greek mythology, Theia Coffee House aims to provide patrons with a serene and comfortable space where they can unwind and connect with nature. With an emphasis on locally sourced materials and a commitment to Ghanaian craftsmanship, Theia offers a unique blend of ambiance and authenticity.
Despite the challenges posed by the pandemic, Land is grateful for the outdoor space at Theia, which has allowed customers to enjoy their coffee in a safe and socially distanced environment. However, she acknowledges the competitive landscape and the importance of maintaining prices while upholding the company’s values and vision.
Attracting a clientele primarily composed of entrepreneurs in their thirties, Theia Coffee House provides a haven for individuals seeking a tranquil and green workspace. Land recognizes the struggles faced by working women, emphasizing the need for balance and asserting her strength in both her professional and personal roles.
Reflecting on her upbringing, Land takes pride in the entrepreneurial spirit of Ghanaian women throughout history and is honored to contribute to this legacy. As she navigates the challenges of entrepreneurship, she remains committed to creating a welcoming space where all are embraced and celebrated.
Join us at Theia Coffee House, where the warmth of Ghanaian hospitality and the spirit of entrepreneurship converge to create an unforgettable experience.
