Pelumi Nubi, a Nigerian residing in the UK, completed her solo drive from London to Lagos, Africa, after witnessing a captivating sunset in Tarifa, Spain.
Beginning her journey on 29 January, Ms. Nubi, known for her travel content creation, set out to replicate the feat of professional motorcyclist Kunle Adeyanju, who achieved a similar journey nearly two years ago.
In a video shared on her Instagram, Ms. Nubi joyously announced her arrival in Morocco, expressing the overwhelming emotions she felt at that moment. She emphasized that words couldn’t fully capture the whirlwind of feelings she experienced.
Ms. Nubi, aiming to set a record as the first black woman to drive from London to Lagos, expressed her immense joy at stepping foot on the African continent on Saturday. She mentioned that being in Morocco brought her closer to home and thanked her supporters for their unwavering encouragement.
Embarking on her adventure on 31 January, the 29-year-old set out from London towards France. She discovered during her preparations that no black woman had undertaken such a journey before. However, while her goal is to become the first black woman to drive this route, her primary aim is not about setting records but challenging the notion of the ‘impossible,’ especially when fueled by determination.
Ms. Nubi sees this journey as an opportunity to explore the world’s diverse continents, push her limits, and inspire others, particularly from the black community, to pursue their dreams.
As a solo black female traveler, she intends to demonstrate the feasibility of such adventures. Having successfully traversed England, France, Spain, and Morocco, Ms. Nubi plans to continue her journey to the West Sahara Desert, Mauritania, and 17 other countries, exploring every city along the way.
Equipped with a car that provides sleeping, cooking, dining, and washing facilities, she will sleep inside her vehicle throughout the journey, enabling spontaneity, cost-saving, and added excitement.
